Fitting 680mAh Batteries on the BetaFPV Air75 Tiny Whoop
The BetaFPV Lava II 1S 680mAh LiHV batteries are a relatively new addition to the market and stand out because of their unusually high capacity. At 680mAh, they push the upper limit of what most pilots would consider practical for a tiny whoop.
For the sake of this post, I’ll be comparing them to Tattu 300mAh 3.8V 75C LiPos.
Comparison

Fitment of the Lava 680mAh LiPos into the Air75 compared to Tattu 300mAh
It is a veeery tight fit, to say the least. I also attempted to connect the battery cable, and it worked, however there was noticeable tension on the cable and connector, which is not ideal. Also, notice how the 680mAh LiPos stick out slightly at the front of the quad? This potentially introduces an impact point in crashes.

Lava 680mAh LiPos compared to Tattu 300mAh
The 300mAh LiPos weigh just 8g, while the Lava 680mAh LiPo comes in at 16.2g, more than double both the weight and the capacity.
Pros and cons
- ✅ High capacity (mAh): longer flight time and thus fewer battery swaps.
- ❌ Weight: the battery is relatively heavy when compared to its smaller 480mAh counterpart (+4g). According to some, this impacts the agility of your quad and increases drift. Racers will especially dislike this, but for others it may be deemed acceptable.
- ❌ Form factor: the 680’s are quite large. In my case, they barely fit the Air75 II tiny whoop. BetaFPV does not even officially list the Air75 II as compatible, even though you can make the very tight fit work.
Conclusion
The Lava II 680mAh is an interesting option for pilots who prioritize flight time over agility. It is noticeably larger and heavier than typical 1S packs, and the fit in the Air75 II is extremely tight. However, if longer flights are your primary goal, the tradeoff may be worth it.
In my testing, the additional weight was noticeable. The whoop felt a bit more sluggish and less “punchy”. I will likely stick to light, lower capacity batteries.
